The Georgia Cancer Foundation Minority Outreach program provides breast cancer-related resources to low-income and senior Latina and African American communities. Gladys Long, our long-term Minority Outreach Coordinator has provided educational seminars/classes, outreach programs, and navigation services to over 6,000 women in the last year alone!
GCF’s minority outreach program recognizes the importance of interpreter services (currently offered in Spanish) to minority women, and provides those services in critical settings, such as physician visits. Along with offering breast cancer health classes, the program also provides navigation services: assistance in locating, identifying and arriving at screening facilities, follow-up care, and providing emotional support.
