Jack Dwyer Golf Tournament Raises Over $21,000 for Georgia Cancer Foundation

Event Honors Cancer Survivors, Remembers Those No Longer With Us, and Raises Money for GCF’s Programs

The seventh annual Jack Dwyer Golf Tournament and Silent Auction (JDGT), held on Monday, August 18, at the Woodmont Golf Club in Canton, raised over $21,000 for Georgia Cancer Foundation (GCF). Over the past seven years, the event has raised more than $170,000, with all proceeds benefiting GCF.

112 golfers attended the event, which is held in memory of Katherine A. Dwyer, who succumbed to lung cancer on December 26, 2000. She was Jack’s wife of 42 years, mother of 7 children, and grandmother of 13.

This year’s title sponsors were Kemron Environmental Services and Longview Wealth Management. Texas Roadhouse sponsored the reception, providing delicious food and refreshments. Golfers bid on donated silent auctions items and were also awarded door prizes. All golfers received a JDGT shoe bag, a sleeve of balls, tees, a Cactus Blossum Gift Certificate, and a Chick-fil-A gift certificate.

GCF Executive Director Rudy Morgan said that the tournament is an important part of GCF fundraising.

“We’re thrilled with the success of this event over the last seven years,” said Morgan. “We appreciate the dedication and compassion of the entire Dwyer family, as well as the sponsors, silent auction donors, teams, and participants.”
