Welcome to Georgia Cancer Foundation

Patient Navigation Program

Georgia Cancer Foundation and the Georgia Cancer Coalition will hold “Patient Navigation” – a program aimed at helping cancer patients navigate the complex world of cancer care coordination and billing – Thursday, July 10, at the Georgia Tech Conference Center (800 Spring Street, Atlanta), from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Patient navigation is a process by which an individual (patient navigator) guides a patient, who has had a test result showing that they may have cancer, through obstacles in the cancer care system to help ensure timely diagnosis and treatment. The program will be open to all professionals and organizations in Georgia’s cancer community associated with or interested in a patient navigation program. Dr. Harold Freeman, President of Harlem’s nonprofit North General hospital, will be the keynote speaker of the program. Dr. Freeman, diplomat and doctor, is credited with organizing the development of the first breast health patient navigator program. A recent New York Times article called Dr. Freeman, ''one of the best people the world ever produced.''

There is no cost to attend, but registration is necessary as seating is limited. To register for the Patient Navigation program click on the link: www.regonline.com/patientnavigation.
